Dear friends, I would like to share with you a recent and very exciting initiative undertaken by the Spiritual Assembly of Brighton and Hove. It relates to the participation of children at the Nineteen Day Feast. At the last Feast, a number of children prepared a skit about inviting their friends to core activities, in this case a devotional meeting and children's class. Can you imagine. Children of between 6 and 8 years were participating in this skit and performed it for the adult friends at the Feast who were absolutely captivated. It was simply a beautiful experience. In recent weeks more children are attending the Feasts in Brighton and Hove as a result of a number of friends putting into practice the skills they have gained from the sequence of courses. These friends engage the children by studying the Word of God and/or playing games, telling stories...etc. The Feasts are now more inclusive and so the children look forward to attending. Also the individuals who are responsible for orgainising the devotional programme are encouraged to include the children. Heartened by these developments, the Spiritual Assembly has decided to increase the integration of the children's activities with those of the adults. Whereas previously a Book 3 graduate would just occupy the children until the social part of the Feast, from henceforth the children will be encouraged to prepare certain activities (related to the Plan or the spiritual attribute relevant to the Feast) to share with the adults. This will be done systematically and prior to the social part of the Feast. The reason for this multi-level transformation is the institute process and institutional encouragement and guidance. The children, the Assembly and the members of the community are all growing. It is like witnessing a seed germinating before your eyes. Very exciting and unifying! Much love, Ramez |
