Dear
EBWN, I
am the author of the book, "Assisting the Traumatized Soul: Healing
the Wounded Talisman", published by the Baha'i Publishing Trust of
the United States. I
started writing in 1973 in such a way to get to know my true self.
My early works are autobiographical, yet I found that others were
benefiting from my having written them. As I continued to write and
share what I had written, I carved a unique niche of service to Family
Violence Shelters across the United States. Then as a Baha'i I
expanded my service to humanity through utilizing the Writings of
Baha'u'llah for "Assisting the Traumatized Soul". The
back cover of my book states: "With
open honesty about her painful experiences as a survivor of childhood
sexual abuse, Phyllis Peterson shares how she learned to overcome her own
trauma by delving into the healing words of the Baha'i Writings. This
important, ground-breaking work reaches out to both the survivors of
trauma and to those who wish to assist them. Ms. Peterson carefully
shows how a loss of power over one's own circumstances greatly hinders
program and well-being. Offering her own perspective and relying
extensively on the writings of the Baha'i Faith, the author not only
identifies what a traumatized soul can do to heal and regain a sense of
self-empowerment, but also what a community or individual can do to help.
It is a valuable resource tool to both Local Spiritual Assemblies and
concerned individuals." "I
found it deeply moving and most illuminating...it is a tremendous help to
be able to read a book such as yours [Assisting the Traumatized Soul],
written by someone who has suffered and who also has acquired a profound
knowledge of the Teachings and their application to the situation."
- Ian Semple I
have a number of articles and booklets that I would like to offer, among
them is "A Letter on the Law of Chastity" for youth and adults,
with discussion guidelines, and "An Acknowledgement of Abuse by a
Parent". Everything that I offer to the public which has Baha'i
quotations has passed review by the Baha'i Literature Review Committee of
the United States. Thank
you, Phyllis K. Peterson For a free flyer with 44 Baha'i related products or for information on a "Chastity Workshop for Youth and Adults", contact Phyllis Peterson at 7945 Coopers Hawk Trail, Machesney Park, IL 61115, USA. |
