BACK TO INDEX                   THE MAYFLOWER KINDERGARTEN

Dear Baha'i Friends,

The Mayflower Association has begun its fifth year of the Mayflower Kindergarten, an English-language school in Covasna, Romania.  This year has been especially productive, that we have begun our 2006 school year in the newly repaired school building, offering a full-day programme.  Mayflower is the only Baha'i-inspired school in Romania.  This year, we have twelve children who attend full-time, and four more children who come for the afternoon sessions.

On December 2, the Mayflower Association began a new proclamation project, inviting the mothers of the children who attend Mayflower for a Friday afternoon "Coffee Hour" where we can relax and socialize after a busy week (The mothers are either teachers in the public schools or are businesswomen).  Thirteen ladies participated, and a presentation was given on "The Equality of Men and Women."  Each lady received a decorated quotation of 'Abdu'l-Bahá to take home: "Humanity has two wings: one is male and one is female.  So long as the two wings of the bird are not equal in strength, the bird will not fly..."

While the mothers enjoyed their "Coffee Hour", their children were busy in another classroom of the school.

The ladies very much appreciated the "Coffee Hour" and asked that future presentations be in the English language, so they could learn more English.  Those mothers who could not attend due to job obligations, also look forward to the next "Coffee Hour."

We intend to continue the "Coffee Hour" on a regular basis, presenting a Baha'i principle at each meeting, followed by discussion and socializing as we build new friendships.

With much Baha'i love,

Yours in His service,

Gail
