Dear Friends,
I rejoiced to see your timely and much-needed initiative!
Please
post the attached document, if appropriate. It introduces a new certificate
program that is especially accessible to women due to its flexible scheduling.
I would be happy to answer any questions. I would also be grateful if you would
be so kind as to notify me when it goes on-line in any form.
I would also appreciate your adding my email addresses to your mailing lists.
Many
thanks for considering these requests!
With warmest greetings and best wishes for your every success!

Announcing a
Master of Arts Degree and Certificate Program in
International and Community Development
Why Study International and Community
Development at Landegg?
·
Diverse
Learning Environment: Landegg’s development students and faculty come from countries as
diverse as Afghanistan, Canada, Ecuador, Mongolia, the Pacific, the United
States, and Zambia, reflecting a wide range of cultures and development issues,
an ideal learning environment to explore development careers.
·
Experience:
Our faculty are active in diverse fields of development: in the work of the
United Nations, in international development agencies, academia, governments,
NGOs, and community-based organizations worldwide, with well-established
networks of colleagues and institutional affiliations in Africa, Asia, the
Americas, and the Pacific.
·
Practical
preparation for worldwide placement: Through partnerships with a network of international
development projects, the program includes
field-service placement, giving students experience in varied settings in
development projects related to their field of study.
·
Ethical
perspective:
Landegg focuses not only on technical skills but also on the ability to
cultivate and apply universal ethical principles, often the key to individual,
community, and institutional success and sustainability in the development world
today.
·
A
Positive Critical Approach: To counteract the pessimism so fashionable in today’s
international development field, this program takes a “positive
critical” approach to analysing problems, emphasizing realism but assuming
that practitioners do, in fact, have the capabilities to address and solve
complex issues in partnership and full consultation with local communities.
The Faculty:
The
faculty includes Dr. Elizabeth Bowen, MD, EdD, Head, Department of Social and
Economic Development; Arthur Dahl, PhD,
formerly of the United Nations
Environmental Program; Payam Pakravan, PhD in Development Economics; Sylvia Karlsson, PhD, International Science Project Coordinator at
the International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change,
Bonn; and Roxanne Lalonde, PhD, with
Masetlha Foundation in Zambia.
