Prime
Minister
Sofia, 29 May 2003
Dear
Mrs. Madison,
Please accept my sincere respect to your highly humanitarian activity of
your Foundation, as well as other foundations in Bulgaria which are defending
the rights of people with “special needs.”
I am impressed with the compassion and perseverance with which you are
helping the children with disabilities. I have always sympathized with the pain
and difficulties that confront them in their attempt to be integrated in our
society, which is still hostile to them. These children have the right to equal
opportunities with all other children.
I assure you that the government will fulfill
its duties towards them and, I can say that there have been improvements in this
sector during the last two years. I am also aware of the necessity for society
to change its attitude towards children with disabilities. I especially value
your contribution in this process. You can rely on my support for I am convinced
that every human being has the right to live independently.
I wish you success in your noble mission!
