GREEK BAHA’I SUMMER SCHOOL

Mining the gems within

Adopting the theme that we should

“Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal it’s treasures, and enable mankind to benefit there from,”

the Greek Baha’i Summer School explores how we can mine the gems within the individual, community and society with short talks on subjects such as the power of prayer, the Covenant, developing virtues, personal growth through tests and difficulties, conducting study circles, devotional meetings and children’s classes, based on the guidance received from Baha’u’llah, Abdu’l-Baha, Shoghi Effendi and the Universal House of Justice. The emphasis is on encouraging spiritual growth through workshops, group work, role playing and active participation to equip and inspire those who have not yet conducted meetings to do so and to enrich the more experienced. Confirmed speakers at mid-March include Giuseppe Robiati, Rob Weinberg, Carl and Ley Schleich, Jutta Strieth and Lida Mirra. Lunch and leisure time is scheduled between 1:30 and 5:30 daily in order to enjoy the beach which is in a proximity of 50 meters from the hotel, while the evening program provides entertainment through creative artistic workshops and presentations; we hope to offer drama, painting, oratory, dance and movement, music/choir, creative writing and possibly others.  Details of the program may soon be found on our website www.gr.bahai.org. Participants should arrive for the opening at 9 pm on Monday August 22; the program closes before noon on Sunday 28 August.  There is a separate program for children and for youth but no special program or child care for children under fives. Simultaneous translation will be provided between Greek and English.

All are welcome. The venue is Hotel “Holiday in Evia” on the island of Evia, which is 1 hour away from Athens. Registration forms may be obtained from national Baha’i offices or directly from Dr. Mahnaz Nasseri at mahnaz@hol.gr  by the deadline of August 1, 2005.

Those, who would like to volunteer for services as children’s classes, translators, junior youth classes, technical things a. o., or have questions about the program are welcome to contact Helen Kontos and David Willis at: kontos@eng.auth.gr
