BACK TO INDEX                    First Bahá'í Arts Academy in Spain

I have been asked to coordinate the promotional and communication aspect of this Academy of Arts organised and sponsored by the (Baha’i Inspired) Nehal Foundation here in Madrid, which will run its first edition this August following the encouragement of various people and running under the auspices of the Bristol Academy of Arts.

Margaret Appa from the Bristol Academy of Arts in the UK will also be visiting Madrid in June to help shape this event which is intended to become the first in a long series of summer Arts Academy's open to Baha’is and non-Baha’is of all ages aiming first and foremost to show how art as an ideal vehicle to discover the hidden creative talents and capacities of each individual.

The setting where the Academy will take place is beautiful.

This year's summer Arts Academy will be divided into five areas: Film Direction, Song, Percussion, Sculpture and Theatre.

For more information on what this implies, you can see that each section or specific course lasts two hours in the morning and another two hours in the afternoon. Each class will vary from 5 to a maximum of 12 students/budding artists. Each evening there will be a representation show of one hour, where some or all of the day classes will show their work.

This will give a good idea of the level of professionalism that the Academy is aiming for.

Outline of the program:

There is a swimming pool, tennis courses, plenty of time to relax and enjoy the Spanish summer and to interact with the participants. Additional optional courses of Persian poetry, of tai chi will be offered to those who do not want to simply relax and chill out.

Please visit our recently launched webpage that details all relevant information on what promises to be the first of a series of annual summer events to allow the arts and the Faith to progress harmoniously together.
