After a long time I haven’t communicated with you, I have the pleasure to send you my report concerning the celebration of the World Women’s day in my Community – in Iraklion of Crete.

Usually, every year I organize a meeting in my home in honor of this particular day, inviting every time another group of my friends, for example, one year from my school-friends, another one from the participants of the community’s fire-sides and others, with the participation of members of our community. Each time there was a spiritual and a social part.

This year, 8th of March, 2007, I combined friends of community’s firesides with neighbors with the participation of men as well.

With a great spirituality in a warm atmosphere the program started with the explanation of the importance of the day and followed by a the spiritual part with prayers and quotations from the Bahá’i writings related to the subject, framed by CD music of the well known woman artist Caroline Mackay, playing her harp and singing quotations of the writings in her own melody.

All the participants were very happy and after the social part every one received the booklet ‘The two Wings’, been kindly translated into Greek by the Community of Athens, with a nice flower.

In addition I want to say that for the same day and for more people, a related passage from the writings has been offered to the 4 local newspapers in Iraklion with the title “Dedication by the Bahá’is for the World Women’s Day”, that has been published by all of them free, as they usually do for all the International Days. We are grateful for their offer.
